Roy Freiman

NJ State Assemblyman · District 16

Roy Freiman has served as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly representing District 16 since 2018, covering Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex, and Hunterdon counties. A Democrat, he was most recently re-elected in November 2025.

Prior to his legislative career, Freiman brought deep financial expertise as a senior executive at Prudential Financial. In Trenton, he has long championed financial transparency and consumer protection, serving consistently on the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee — where he was named Chair — providing direct legislative oversight of New Jersey's banking and insurance industries. He has also served on the Commerce & Economic Development and Transportation committees.

Freiman has been a leading voice for healthcare transparency, championing the Patient and Provider Protection Act, which targets pharmacy benefit managers and requires fair, transparent reimbursement practices across the state.

Kirk Tice

Retired President & CEO · RWJUH Rahway

Kirk Tice dedicated 46 extraordinary years to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Rahway, an RWJBarnabas Health facility — including 30 years as President and Chief Executive Officer. He retired at the close of 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassionate, patient-first leadership that transformed the institution.

Under his stewardship, RWJUH Rahway earned six consecutive "A" safety grades from the Leapfrog Group, full Joint Commission accreditation, and "Most Wired" recognition for healthcare information management — reflecting his unwavering commitment to quality and safety.

In recognition of his enduring contributions to New Jersey's healthcare landscape, Tice was honored as a 2024 NJBIZ ICON Award recipient — one of the state's most prestigious distinctions for business and civic leadership.

Dr. Morton Abend

Retired Radiologist, D.O. · Mountainside, NJ

Dr. Morton Abend is a retired radiology specialist with over 65 years of experience in the medical field. He received his medical degree from Midwestern University in 1957, laying the foundation for a distinguished career dedicated to diagnostic imaging and patient care.

Throughout his career in Mountainside, New Jersey, Dr. Abend developed recognized expertise in both Radiology and Nuclear Medicine — specialties that place him at the intersection of diagnostic precision and therapeutic application. His decades of practice gave him a comprehensive understanding of medical imaging's critical role in modern healthcare delivery.

Dr. Abend brings to the board a physician's perspective grounded in clinical rigor, medical ethics, and a lifetime of service to patients and the broader New Jersey healthcare community.
